I don’t rattling conceive in karma, and I don’t conceive most Buddhists would feature the seism was ‘bad karma’. I also don’t conceive the construct of buddhist karma is kindred to Divine Retrbution.
I conceive the intent of ‘what goes aroudn, comes around’ is a pretty rediculous one.

I believe in Karma and everyone gets their cumuppance. Do good and get good do bad and get bad.

Maybe she believes it. It’s not against the law to have an opinion. She may have been speaking rhetorically, and it got taken out of context. I think mostly that she was speaking out of frustration with the Chinese government.

I don’t think hundreds of thousands of people dying and millions displaced really something to make those sorts of comments about. Because of the Chinese ruling Tibet is one thing but no one wants to see people die wherever they come from.
It revealed her as rather a stupid and nasty person – I think she should apologise and make a large donation to the Chinese Red Cross Disaster Appeal fund.

I think that comparing Divine Retribution with Bad Karma was appropriate. What goes around comes around. The evil deeds of the Chinese regime have not gone unnoticed, and they will be punished for it eventually; whether the earthquake was payback or not, who knows? But there is a Higher Power looking after things, and it is Just. Evil doers will eventually be made to suffer for their crimes. Make no mistake about that.

I think it’s kind of ironic, seeing as the USA is doing the same thing in Guam / American Samoa / and Puerto Rico. Nothing has happened here yet.
